    Dynamiska sökningar
    Många applikationer har funktioner där användarna kan ange många olika sökvillkor för att hitta information. Att implementera sådana sökningar så att de blir effektiva och lätta att underhålla är alltid en utmaning.
    I denna presentation ska vi främst titta på två lösningar: statisk SQL med OPTION (RECOMPILE) och dynamisk SQL. Vi ska titta på hur man implementerar dem, och när man ska välja den ena eller den andra.

     

    Biografi:

    Erland Sommarskog utsågs som den andre i Sverige MVP på SQL Server 2001, som tack för sin aktivitet i newsgrupper och forum i SQL Server, något han fortsatt sedan dess, driven av ett brinnande intresse att hjälpa
    människor att använda SQL Server bättre. Han publicerar också längre artiklar kring SQL Server på sin väbbplats www.sommarskog.se.
    I yrkeslivet är han egen företagare och säljer konsulttjänster kring SQL Server.

    Best practices for collecting, combining and analysing data with Power Query
    So you’ve played around with Power Query in Excel; now it’s time to put it to work. In this session you’ll learn how to ‘think’ in Power Query. You’ll see a number of examples of how Power Query can be used to solve real world problems and understand the best practices and patterns that you can take back to work and use immediately. Examples will include:
    • Creating and using a parameter table
    • Combining data from multiple Excel workbooks into a single data set
    • Handling errors and unavailable data sources
    • Calling web services, handling authentication and working with XML
    • Performing sentiment analysis in Excel with Power Query and Azure Machine Learning

     

    Bio:
    Chris Webb is an independent consultant and trainer based in the UK, specialising in SQL Server Analysis Services, MDX, DAX, Power Pivot, Power Query and Power BI. A regular speaker at user groups and conferences around the world, such as SQLBits, the PASS Summit and the PASS Business Analytics Conference, he has received Microsoft's Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award for ten years running. He is the co-author of several books such as ”MDX Solutions”, ”Expert Cube Development with SQL Server Analysis Services”, ”SQL Server Analysis Services 2012: The BISM Tabular Model” and “Power Query for Power BI and Excel” and blogs about Microsoft BI at http://blog.crossjoin.co.uk/ .     Topic: Deep dive into Isolation Levels

    Abstract:
    The topic of SQL Server concurrency is one that many people want to understand really well, but at the same time is one that doesn't get the needed attention for some reason. In addition, isolation levels can play a huge role in both the performance and the scalability of every application and so the proper choice of isolation level is crucial. In this session we are going to go deep into the world of SQL Server isolation levels and see what is the behavior of each one of them. We will discuss how we should approach the final decision on which level we should go with and how we can actually effectively troubleshoot concurrency issues. Last, but not at least, we will take a look at what is going on behind the scenes when our applications work and what differentiates one isolation level from the other. The session is suitable for both application developers and DBAs who want to advance their knowledge in the unending world of SQL Server concurrency.

    Obs! Det har blivit ändrade resplaner så tyvärr kommer in Scott Currie att vara på plats vid SQLUG-träffen i egen fysisk person utan håller istället sitt föredrag via distansuppkoppling men vi får ändå bra möjligheter att nätverka lite och diskutera SQL prylar i paus.

    Scott Currie har tidigare föredragit om BIML för SSIS tidigare men nu gäller det istället för T-SQL sfären.

    Biml Recipes: Automatically create T-SQL Scripts for Common Tasks
    You've probably heard a lot about Biml for SSIS automation, but did you know it can also be used for building complex, yet reusable T-SQL statements for common database tasks – in most cases much faster and more easily than you could with dynamic T-SQL.
    This will be a scenario driven session where we discuss many real world examples of manual tasks that can be automated with Biml snippets and the free BIDS Helper AddIn to BIDS/SSDT. You will receive all code for your own use.
    Scenarios include:
    1) Generation of T-SQL merge statements that removes all the drudgery of manually mapping columns – including complex SCD column handling.
    2) Stale data detection that uses Biml to create queries that display ranges for all date/time columns in each table of a target database – perfect for retiring tables from WorkDB and other ad hoc environments.
    3) Sample data creation that automatically produces test data based on DDL schema information from your data model.
    4) And much more

    Speaker: Scott Currie
     

    Scott Currie is the founder and CEO of Varigence, Inc. Prior to founding Varigence, Scott worked for 7 years at the Microsoft Corporation. Scott was the Program Manager for managed interoperability in the Visual C++ Compiler and the 64-bit Just In Time (JIT) compiler for the .NET Framework. He also led several important customer connection initiatives for the Developer Division at Microsoft including product feedback, product preview (CTP) and early adopter (TAP) programs, online crash analysis, and customer satisfaction measurements. Scott later created and served as the Product Unit Manager for the CSS Analytics team at Microsoft, which was responsible for leveraging agile application development methodologies in the development of Business Intelligence solutions.

    Scott graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with undergraduate majors in economics, mathematics, and computer science and a master’s degree in computer science.
